Type B: are the fireplaces with or without glass that draws air for combustion from the room and evacuate exhaust fumes through a normal chimney like a wood burning fireplace. Category C: these are the fireplaces with glass called "sealed" with a special coaxial pipe, pick from the outside air for combustion and through the same pipe evacuate exhaust fumes.
SAFETY
Today, the Type B and C gas fireplaces are pretty sure: all CE certified, there are 2 types of security: security type C have no possibility to send gas into the environment as they are sealed, so have a protection system in case the flame goes out, it will close the gas tap. Security Type B: have a double safety devices such as the type C plus another sensor, in the event of a release of smoke in the environment or in case of low-oxygen it will close the gas tap. The installation of a gas fireplace is also much simpler than that of a wood-burning fireplace, however, it must be installed by qualified and experienced personnel.
